I recently had the pleasure of attending backstage shows for New York Fashion Week and I realized something quite exciting: the way I’ve been doing my makeup and hair for years (minimal and undone) is in, up-coming, and here to stay. Let’s get into the product breakdown so you can get this super easy, natural, fresh look at home.
The beauty look at JUST IN XX is all you could ever need in an everyday-yet-elevated look. Kelli J. Bartlett, lead makeup artist for Glamsquad, said this look was about embracing all of the models’ differences and diverse backgrounds. It was important to Bartlett to keep them fresh and dewy, so she used only Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer—no foundation at all, but she prepped the skin with Chanel’s Hydra Beauty Serum to create a hydrated, flawless finish. To add even more glow to the skin, Bartlett added Kevin Aucoin’s Pure Powder Glow Blush and a subtle, cool-toned contour from Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Shape Shifter Palette.
When it comes to lashes, you don’t need to break the bank on makeup. Truly. It’s all about how you apply your mascara. Making sure to curl the lashes first, Bartlett used the cult classic L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara, concentrating most of the mascara into the base of the lashes without pulling through to the ends.
After prepping lips with a nourishing balm, all the models’ pouts were uplifted with a rosy, red popsicle lip stain, which is also easy to replicate for school, work, and a night out. Bartlett mixed two shades in the Bobbi Brown Lip Palette: crushed plum and red velvet. What's stunning about this lip look is that colors can be customized and mixed based on skin tone.
It’s incredibly important to note that Bartlett almost no brushes to create this look. To get that undone, natural look at home, use your fingers! Pat the concealer into the skin and press the lipstick onto the lips so that everything is at one with your natural complexion.
Makeup wasn’t the only part of the beauty look that was polished-yet-undone. Lead

Glamsquad hairstylist Giovanni Vaccaro worked with models’ natural texture and used product to further enhance it. After prepping hair with Ouai’s Dry Shampoo Foam, Vaccaro used his hands to create a rough blowout. And for an airy, lived-in texture, he then sprayed Kérastase VIP Volume in Powderthroughout the hair from mid-shaft to ends. To seal in the look, he finished with L’Oréal Elnett Hair Spray and Ouai’s Hair Oil.
To hear about these simple, undone beauty looks was music to my ears….because it means my beauty routine can remain easy and still be on trend
